Da ragazzina avevo la Barbie Luce di Stelle, col suo fantastico abito lungo che si illuminava col buio, avevo anche il Ken Luce di Stelle, l’unico uomo in mutande anche se svestito, con i capelli di plastica con la riga a lato. Adoravo Princess, la cavalla bianca di Barbie. Avevo il letto a baldacchino e la sala da pranzo con piatti e forchette, ma ho sempre desiderato la Casa dei Sogni di Barbie: ho visto la scatola che la contiene a casa di Laura, un giorno vorrei che la montassimo e che ci giocassimo insieme. Ho visto Barbie vestire diverse professioni: l’infermiera, la ballerina, la mamma, la hostess, la cantante, il veterinario… Quando ero piccola mi sarebbe tanto piaciuto vestirmi come lei (anche se avevo la Maglieria Magica di Barbie non ce l’ho mai fatta), ma a dire la verità è così anche ora.

When I was a young girl I got Barbie Dream Glow, with her amazing long dress that sparkled in the dark, I got also the Ken Dream Glow, the only man in his underwear, even if naked, with his plastic hair with a part on the side. I adored Princess, the white Barbie’s mare. I had a canopy bed and a dining room with plates and forks, but I always wanted the Barbie Dream House: I saw the box that contains it in Laura’s home, one day I would like to assemble it and to play together. I saw Barbie being: nurse, dancer, mother, air hostess, singer, vet… When I was a little girl I would have liked to dress like her (even though I had the Barbie Knit Magic, I couldn’t do it), but telling the truth also now.

La casa di Barbie in dimensioni reali (325 metri quadrati / 3500 square feet) è stata arredata in stile “happy chic” dal designer Jonathan Adler. Ci sono pezzi di design creati per l’occasione come il lampadario di capelli creato da Chris March con 30 code, lo specchio a forma di sole con 65 Barbie disposte a raggiera, la poltrona con texture colorata Generations of Dreams di Barbie con lo strascico di un abito posizionato sul retro ($ 7,800.00) di Jonathan Adler, pareti e lenzuola col monogramma, dai toni rosa, rosso, bianco, nero e arancio.
Il 9 marzo Barbie vi ha organizzato il party del suo 50° compleanno, in compagnia di moltissime star.
Mattel ha anche realizzato la Barbie ♥ Jonathan Adler Doll, con accessori ispirati agli oggetti reali contenuti nella Dream House: tavolino, lampada, tre vasi, un vassoio fucsia e uno specchio con la silhouette di Barbie.
