Non Solo Kawaii

Tiny Trifecta è una mostra aperta dal 9 aprile al 1° maggio 2011 alla Cotton Candy Machine Art Boutique e ha attirato la mia attenzione perchè è composta da più di 100 piccole opere d’arte, realizzate in occasione del 100° giorno dell’anno al costo di soli $100.

Tiny Trifecta is an exhibition which runs from April 9th to May 1st, 2011, at the Cotton Candy Machine Art Boutique and it has catched my attention because it is composed of more than 100 tiny artworks, at the cost of $100 on the 100th Day of the Year.

Le magical girls sono le protagoniste magiche di un particolare genere di shōjo manga. Magical Girls è anche il nome della mostra organizzata da Sweet Streets presso la galleria Meltdown Comics di Los Angeles dall’1 al 22 aprile.

Magical girls are the main magic characters of a kind of shōjo manga. Magical Girls is also the name of the exhibition organized by Sweet Streets at Meltdown Comics gallery in Los Angeles from April 1 to 22.

“Kawaii Art” di Valentina Testa è un recente saggio edito da Tunué. Questo saggio è indicato per chi si avvicina per la prima volta al kawaii, dando un’infarinatura sulla sua cultura negli shōjo manga, nell’arte giapponese e nella moda.

Elsa “Elsita” Mora è una maga nell’intagliare e plasmare la carta, ma non è tutto. Nel suo portfolio troviamo anche fatine kawaii, disegni, illustrazioni vettoriali, dipinti, case delle bambole, mini libri e addirittura ceramiche.

Sugar ‘n Splice è una mostra il cui tema è la dissonanza sempre affascinante tra gli stereotipi del mondo kawaii e gli elementi che rimandano a realtà più oscure e talvolta crudeli. Partecipano Jeremiah Ketner, Yoko d’Holbachie, Jason Limon e Aya Kakeda.

Sugar ‘n Splice is an exhibition whose theme is the always fascinating dissonance between the stereotypes of kawaii world and the elements that remind of obscure and sometimes cruel realities. The featured artists are Jeremiah Ketner, Yoko d’Holbachie, Jason Limon e Aya Kakeda.

Lungo periodo di festeggiamenti per Sanrio! La serie di eventi, iniziata nel 2009 con Three Apples e conclusa nel 2010 con Small Gift, ha portato numerose opere d’arte ispirate ai personaggi: quadri e… toys da collezione!

Camilla D’Errico is a famous painter, cartoonist and toy designer. Her pictorial style reminds the world of manga and Renaissance portraits. The presence of pets, gears and bright colors fascinates those who watch her works.

Il 3 dicembre 2010 è tornata in Italia e resterà nella sua patria fino al 6 gennaio 2011. Fino a quel giorno potrete ammirarla (gratis!) nella Sala Alessi di Palazzo Marino a Milano. Ha quasi 500 anni ma è ancora stupenda: è la “Donna allo Specchio” del pittore veneziano Tiziano.

She came back to Italy on December 3, 2010 and she will stay in her homeland until January 6, 2011. You can see her (for free!) in Sala Alessi, Palazzo Marino in Milan (Italy) until that day. She is nearly 500 year-old but she is still beautiful: she is the “Woman with a Mirror” by Titian.
