“The evolution of human civilization is great; humankind thinks nature precious, but it is difficult for humankind and nature to coexist. I represented these two souls that cannot understand each other through the images of buildings and mountains.”

Impossible not to sense this dichotomy between nature and man-made landscapes, which fills up the works of Chiho Aoshima imbuing them with melancholy and staining them with noir touches, softened by the joyful use of the color and a positive attitude, which allows for a future of possibilities not yet written.

In an interview for Departures Magazine in 2010 she showed as inspirations of her works satellite images, Frank Lloyd Wright, and the contamination that the Western world took from the East, the Japonisme.
Instead reviewers have said that her works are influenced by manga and kawaii aesthetics, science fiction, woodblock prints and erotic animation, so draw your own conclusions, certainly her works have a unique and fascinating style regardless of the medium used.
