Non Solo Kawaii

Uno spiraglio sull’America degli anni ’50, con i suoi giubbotti di pelle e i capelli pettinati all’indietro e ricolmi di brillantina, le gonne che si aprono a ruota e i gilet da bravi ragazzi, i sogni, l’amore e… il rock ’n’ roll!
Il musical Grease, nella versione italiana messa in scena dalla Compagnia della Rancia, giunge all’ultima tappa del tour in corso e sbarca all’Allianz Teatro di Assago.
Il 16 marzo il Kawaii Team, in versione Pink Ladies, è stato invitato alla prima data milanese del 2010 dello spettacolo.

In this musical the America of the ’50s is portrayed with its leather jackets, the combed back and greasy hair, the flared skirt and the waistcoat of the good boys, dreams, love, and… rock ’n’ roll!
Grease the musical, in the Italian version staged by the Compagnia della Rancia, reaches the last lap of the tour at the Allianz Theatre in Assago.
On March 16 the Kawaii Team, dressed as Pink Ladies, was invited to watch the show on its first date of 2010 in Milan.

• Storia dello Spettacolo / History of the Show

Sentendo parlare di Grease molti collegheranno questo nome all’omonimo film realizzato nel 1978 da Randal Kleiser che vedeva come protagonisti John Travolta e Olivia Newton-John. Ma Grease è prima di tutto il musical ideato e prodotto nel 1971 da Jim Jacobs e Warren Casey.
Grease si ispira ai greasers: una subcultura giovanile originatasi negli anni cinquanta negli Stati Uniti, riconoscibile per i capelli portati all’indietro e unti di brillantina (greased in inglese significa unto), magliette bianche, giubbotti di pelle e favolose automobili fuoriserie.
Resteranno nei ricordi di tutti le stupende canzoni di questo musical che hanno scalato le classifiche musicali con le sue celebri “You’re The One That I Want”, “Summer Nights” e la canzone “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, cantata nella versione cinematografica da Olivia Newton-John, che ha ricevuto anche una nomination al premio Oscar per la migliore canzone originale nel 1979.
Ora in Italia siamo giunti alla tredicesima edizione del musical Grease, dopo il debutto nel 1997 con Lorella Cuccarini nei panni di Sandy, con 1.100 repliche e ben 1.388.000 spettatori. E il suo successo non sembra arrestarsi.

Grease the Musical is indissolubly linked with the movie made in 1978 by Randal Kleiser where the protagonists are John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. But Grease was at first a musical created and produced in 1971 by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
Grease is inspired by the greasers: a youth subculture which originated in the fifties in the United States, recognizable by the combed back and greasy hair, white shirts, leather jackets and stunning custom-built cars.
Everybody remember all the wonderful songs of this musical that climbed the music charts with the famous “You’re The One That I Want”, “Summer Nights” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, sung by Olivia Newton-John in the movie, who also had a Oscar nomination for the Best Original Song in 1979.
In Italy we have reached the thirteenth edition of Grease the musical, after its debut in 1997 with Lorella Cuccarini as Sandy, with 1,100 reruns and 1,388,000 viewers. And this success does not seem to stop.

• La Trama / The Plot

Durante le vacanze estive Danny Zucco e Sandy Olsson si conoscono e si innamorano. Purtroppo, finita la bella stagione, i due sono a malincuore costretti a dirsi addio.
Il loro destino però cambia improvvisamente quando Sandy si trasferisce alla Rydell High School, la stessa scuola del suo amato Danny. Danny però non sembra più il dolce ragazzo conosciuto in vacanza: in realtà è il leader di una banda di studenti che si fanno chiamare T-Birds e di fronte ad essi si dimostra indifferente nei confronti dell’ingenua Sandy.
Danny e Sandy riprenderanno un po’ alla volta la loro storia, disturbata però dalla presenza dei T-Birds e delle Pink Ladies.

During the summer holidays Danny Zucco and Sandy Olsson get to know each other and fall in love. Unfortunately, over the summer, they have to part.
However their destinies suddenly change when Sandy moves to Rydell High School, the same school of her beloved Danny. But Danny seems no longer the sweet boy she met during the holiday: actually he is the leader of a gang of students called T-Birds and when he is in their company, he is indifferent with the ingenue Sandy.
Little by little Danny and Sandy begin their relationship again, disturbed however by the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies.

Il musical Grease porta gioia e divertimento.
Le canzoni e le coreografie semplici coinvolgono gli spettatori che cantano e si muovono a ritmo con i T-Birds e le Pink Ladies. Il pubblico applaudiva al termine di ogni scena, a volte anche durante, alcuni facevano persino urli di incitamento, battevano i piedi e le mani a tempo.
È impossibile non appassionarsi alla storia d’amore tra Danny e Sandy, perchè narra di qualcosa che potrebbe essere accaduto ad ognuno di noi: il primo amore, con i suoi piccoli problemi nel gestire il rapporto di coppia e quello con gli amici.
Se qualcuno mi chiedesse come sia questo musical, io risponderei subito: “Tosto!”, imitando il gesto d’apprezzamento dei T-Birds.

The musical Grease brings joy and fun.
The songs and the choreography involve the audience singing and moving to the rhythm with the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies. The audience applauded after every scene, sometimes even during the show, some people shouted, stamped their feet and clapped their hands to the rhythm.
It is impossible not to get involved in Danny and Sandy’s love story, because it is something that could have happened to us: the first love, with its little problems to manage the relationship with our own partner and with the friends.
If someone asked me how this musical is, I say: “Cool!”, imitating the T-Birds’ gesture of appreciation.

Ironico, vivace e coinvolgente.
Se quello che cercate è una serata in cui divertirvi senza pensieri è quello che fa per voi, vi travolgerà dal primo all’ultimo minuto e il tempo purtroppo volerà in un attimo!
Scenografie semplici ma ad effetto, un ottimo cast, un’atmosfera frizzante e le canzoni che abbiamo tanto amato nel film di Randal Kleiser interpretate con brio ed energia.
Vi sentirete parte degli studenti del Rydell: preparate gonne a ruota e brillantina!

If you are looking for a fun light-hearted evening is the right one for you, you will be swept away and unfortunately the time will pass quickly!
Simple but sensational scenery, a great cast, exciting atmosphere and the songs, that we loved so much in the movie by Randal Kleiser, interpreted with verve and energy.
You will be part of the students of Rydell: prepare for flared skirts and grease!
