Finalmente arriva anche in Italia il musical American Idiot, la prima opera Punk Rock ospitata nel nostro Paese scritta da Billie Joe Armstrong con le musiche dei Green Day, vincitrice nel 2010 di due Tony Awards e del Grammy Award come miglior Musical Show Album.

Finally the musical American Idiot comes to Italy, the first Punk Rock opera performed in our country written by Billie Joe Armstrong with Green Day music, winner of two Tony Awards in 2010 and the Grammy Award for the Best Musical Show Album.

Il musical, al Teatro della Luna dal 26 gennaio al 12 febbraio, è diretto da Marco Iacomelli, gli attori, scelti tra 700 giovani candidati e alcuni al loro debutto, reciteranno in Italiano e le canzoni in versione originale saranno interpretate e suonate dal vivo, la produzione è stata affidata a STM – Scuola del Teatro Musicale, Fondazione Teatro Coccia e Reverse Agency.

The musical will be at Teatro della Luna (Milan) from January 26th to February 12th, it is directed by Marco Iacomelli, the actors, chosen from 700 young candidates and some of them making their debut, play in Italian and sing the songs in the original language, there is a live band, the production was entrusted to STM – Scuola del Teatro Musicale, Fondazione Teatro Coccia e Reverse Agency.

American Idiot è un musical che affonda le sue radici e l’ispirazione nel contesto biografico dei Green Day, parla di adolescenti figli di un’era di disillusione dove l’unica via di salvezza sembra la fuga, la fuga dalla propria città e anche un po’ da se stessi, cercando tutto e niente e perdendosi spesso prima di giungere (forse) alla meta.
I protagonisti sono Johnny, Tunny e Will, hanno grandi sogni, pochi spiccioli, tanta passione e incoscienza, ci condurranno con loro nel viaggio che cambierà i loro destini intonando Jesus of Suburbia, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Holiday, Good Riddance, 21 Guns (qui il meraviglioso video del cast italiano) e molte altre hit della Band di Berkeley.

American Idiot is a musical that has its roots and inspiration in the biographical context of Green Day, is about teenagers who live in an era of disillusionment where the only salvation seems to be running away from their city and also from themselves, trying everything and nothing and getting often lost before reaching (perhaps) their goals.
The protagonists are Johnny, Tunny and Will, they have big dreams, a few dollars, so much passion and recklessness, we will lead by them on their journey that will change their lives singing Jesus of Suburbia, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Holiday, Good Riddance, 21 Guns ( here is the wonderful video of the Italian cast) and many other hits of the Band from Berkeley.

Abbiamo visto lo spettacolo alla prima del Teatro della Luna il 26 gennaio e siamo rimaste colpite dalla sua esplosività, dal ritmo incalzate, dall’irriverenza e da un pacchetto difficile da vedere in Italia per stile e qualità.
Un paluso particolare alle voci che ci hanno più rapito di Luca Gaudiano (Will), Natascia Fonzetti (Whatsername), Mario Ortiz (St. Jimmy) e alla straordinaria chitarra di Roberta Raschellà.
Da non perdere!

We watched the premiere of the show at Teatro della Luna on January 26th, and we were struck by its explosiveness, the fast rhythm, the irreverence, a whole show hard to find in Italy for style and quality.
Special compliments to the voices that we have loved the most, Luca Gaudiano (Will), Natasha Fonzetti (Whatsername), Mario Ortiz (St. Jimmy) and the extraordinary guitar of Roberta Raschellà.
