It is not easy for an artist to express himself in an original way using ceramics, material that, concerning to sculpture, is associated mostly with religious artifacts, souvenirs and household items.

Katsuyo Aoki manages to transpose the historical legacy of this material in an innovative way, by giving it contrasting meanings and symbols, by telling myths and allegories that belong to different worlds, but that find a fascinating balance together at the same time.

The works of this artist from Tokyo inspire awe and respect, reaching a mystical level that is balanced by the Rococo decorative excess, tranquility and purity exuded by the smooth white surfaces house the superficiality and the redundancy of the forms, where the soul of the artwork is imprisoned in the armor of the image, perfect mirror of our times, where the culture of the image overwhelms and is opposed to the substance, where the complexity of interpersonal relationships and relation to religion is reflected in everyday life.

Her most famous artworks are the Rococo skulls of Predictive Dreams Series, the awe of death meets the aesthetic pleasure, the sacred and the profane are inextricably bound suspended between worship and contemplation of the image.
