The LOVE Magazine è una nuova rivista semestrale inglese, edita da Condé Nast e dedicata al lusso e al fashion, che tra poco vedrà l’uscita del suo secondo numero. Ha debuttato il 19 febbraio di quest’anno in corrispondenza con la London Fashion Week (20-25 febbraio) con il numero primavera/estate dedicato a “Fashion and Fame - Icons of our Generation” (Moda e Fama: Icone della nostra Generazione).

The LOVE Magazine is a new six-month english magazine, edited by Condé Nast and dedicated to luxury and fashion, and the second number will be published soon. It made its debut on February 19th of this year next to London Fashion Week (20-25 February) with the spring/summer number dedicated to “Fashion and Fame - Icons of our Generation“.

Non potevo non acquistarla, prima di tutto perchè nella copertina troviamo la mitica frontwoman dei Gossip, Beth Ditto, in una posa di nudo da diva, poi troviamo all’interno un bellissimo servizio su Courtney Love, che adoro, così come Sofia Coppola a cui è dedicato un articolo in cui parla della sua amicizia con Marc Jacobs e del suo rapporto col marchio Louis Vuitton, non può inoltre mancare una mini intervista a Vivienne Westwood e alla dolcissima modella Natalia Vodianova, che amo per la sua aggraziata semplicità.

I couldn’t not buy it, first of all because the cover girl is Beth Ditto, the great Gossip’s frontwoman who poses nude as a diva, then there is a beautiful feature about Courtney Love, whom i adore as Sofia Coppola to whom is dedicated an article which talks about her friendship with Marc Jacobs and her relation to the brand Louis Vuitton, in addition there are some little interviews to Vivienne Westwood and to the sweet model Natalia Vodianova, that i like for her graceful simpleness.

Si trovano all’interno anche alcuni servizi davvero simpatici, per esempio le modelle Adriana Lima e Veronica Webb che interpretano rispettivamente Amy Winehouse e Beyonce, oppure vengono accostati dei cantanti famosi a dei cantanti ancora sconosciuti o esordienti.

We can find also some funny features, for example the models Adriana Lima and Veronica Webb who play respectively Amy Winehouse and Beyonce, or some famous singers are matched with some budding or unknown singers.

Insomma potrei andare avanti per ore a parlare dei contenuti di questa rivista perchè è davvero bellissima anche dal punto di vista grafico. In contrasto al logo stile “monumentale” troviamo i titoli scritti a mano, schizzati ad arte, le immagini sono sempre di un ottimo livello e le troviamo a pagina intera o semplicemente tagliate a vivo. Si è scelto un impatto visivo fatto di contrasti come i colori dominanti: il bianco e il nero che danno maggiore visibilità alle bellissime immagini e coronano uno stile che se non si può definire minimal, ma sicuramente pulito e chic.

I could talk for hours about contents of this magazine because it’s really great even in the graphic way. Contrasting to logo, which has a “monumental” style, titles are handwritten, sketched artistically, photos have always an excellent level and are full-page printed or simply sharp cut. The visual impact is made by contrasts like dominant colours: black and white which give more visibility to beautiful images and define a style that can’t be minimal, but clean and chic for sure.

Nel comunicato stampa The LOVE Magazine viene raccontata come una rivista di fashion che non vuole dare dei diktat ma ispirare, dare libero spazio all’immaginazione del lettore, “LOVE non segue la moda: ma definisce le priorità della moda“, e a quanto vedo sono riusciti nell’intento.
L’unica pecca: la rivista contiene molte pubblicità di altre riviste Condé Nast, come Vogue e GQ, e certo questa autopromozione non è di certo stilosa.

In the press release The LOVE Magazine is described as a fashion magazine which doesn’t want to give some diktats but to inspire, to let the reader’s imagination free, “LOVE doesn’t follow fashion: it sets fashion’s agenda“, and i think that they succeed in their purpose.
The only flaw: it contains many advertisings of other Condé Nast magazines, like Vogue and GQ, and this self promotion isn’t so cool.
