“Through the Looking-Glass and Other Stories” è il titolo della mostra personale di Maggie Taylor alla Little John Contemporary di New York, che espone le opere realizzate in più di 10 anni di questa artista, alcune sono appena state pubblicate nel libro “Through the Looking-Glass, And What Alice Found There” edito da Moth House Press e ispirate alle famose favole di Lewis Carroll.

“Through the Looking-Glass and Other Stories” is the title of Maggie Taylor’s solo show at Little John Contemporary in New York, which displays the works created for over ten years of this artist, some are just published in the book “Through the Looking-Glass, And What Alice Found There” published by Moth House Press and inspired by the famous stories of Lewis Carroll.

Maggie Taylor (Ohio, 1961) è un’artista statunitense che vive in Florida e che è nota per la sua particolare e affascinante tecnica di fotomanipolazione che unisce passato e presente: le sue delicate stampe sono realizzate in modo moderno e digitale creando composizioni da antiche fotografie del diciannovesimo secolo tra cui anonimi dagherrotipi.

Maggie Taylor (Ohio, 1961) is an American artist who lives in Florida and is known for her original and fascinating photomanipulation technique that combines past and present: her beautiful prints are made in a modern and digital way composing ancient nineteenth century photographs including anonymous daguerreotypes.

Le composizioni dall’allure vittoriano ben si sposano con la narrativa e le atmosfere surreali create da Lewis Carroll, così come la complessità dei layer, ogni opera diventa allo stesso tempo sintesi e prologo di una nuova storia.

The compositions have a Victorian flavour that goes well with the stories and the surreal atmospheres created by Lewis Carroll, as well as the complexity of the layers, each work becomes at once synthesis and prologue of a new tale.
