On May 26 we had the honour to attend the backstage of the fashion show at the event organized by Disney for the national Maleficent première in Milan (here you can find the imges, the plot and the review of the movie).
In the fashion show there were 10 models to interpret Maleficent’s two souls: the spiritual one, bound to world of nature and the cruel one well-known to the public.
Among the 10 Maleficent even a Princess Aurora that perfectly embodied the ideals of beauty and grace received as a gift from the fairies of the wooded realm.

Michele has designed 10 Maleficent looks: two models made up just like Angelina Jolie, while 8 ones had a makeup inspired by the character with graphic eyeliner, false eyelashes and bold colors on the lips.
Michele was very kind and here is a flash interview.

Glitter e sculpting sostituiscono l’effetto volume dato dalle protesi.
1. What inspired you to study the Maleficent looks?
All of us have grown up with fairy tales, Maleficent is a fairy tale that takes us back in time, which tells the fascinating story of a pure and innocent fairy that is changed by the harshness of life.
I wanted to show her different souls.
2. Describe the moods of the Maleficent looks.
I designed two looks close to Angelina Jolie’s one in the movie, while the other 8 are dramatic and modern, fashionable and not too “carnival”.
3. Why did you decide not to use prosthetic cheekbones?
I wanted to recreate the special effects using only makeup, because thanks to light and dark colors you can achieve incredible results.
Glitter and sculpting replace the volume effect of the prosthetics.
4. What is your trick to enhance the makeup on the catwalk?
I made the makeup bolder, emphasizing the sculpting, makeup should be more intense in general.
5. Did you design other makeup for the theater?
I worked on the set of different Italian musicals such as “Alice in Wonderland”, “My Fair Lady” and “Some Like It Hot”.

@Make-up-deer
È stata una bellissima esperienza!
Il backstage era abbastanza rilassato e abbiamo potuto vedere e fotografare i MUA all’opera in serenità.
