“Princess of None” è una mini serie di dipinti a olio realizzati dall’artista di origine israeliana Kukula per lo Scope Art Show di Miami di dicembre in collaborazione con Haven Gallery.
“Princess of None” is a mini series of oil paintings created by Israeli-born artist Kukula for the Miami Scope Art Show in December in collaboration with Haven Gallery.

Kukula presenta le sue eroine in pose e ruoli che in passato venivano ricoperti da figure maschili, riappropriandosi del potere privato al genere femminile.
Kukula presents her heroines in poses and roles that were prerogative of male figures in the past, giving them the power that the female gender was deprived of.

“Tutti i miei dipinti sono ispirati dai pittori ritrattisti inglesi del XVIII secolo come Gainsborough e Reynolds, quindi si può riscontrare un mood che ricorda la rivoluzione americana e francese, ma i personaggi nei miei dipinti sono donne forti ora al posto dei loro predecessori maschili”.
“All my paintings are inspired by British 18th century portrait painters like Gainsborough and Reynolds so there will be an American and French Revolutionary vibe but the characters in my paintings are strong females now in place of their male predecessors.”

L’ispirazione di Kukula viene dal passato, ma si lascia contaminare anche dal presente, nell’abbigliamento di questi personaggi vengono proposti dei pezzi di due designer contemporanee conosciute per la loro forza, sicurezza e irriverenza: Creepyyeha per i vestiti e Natacha Marro per le scarpe.
Kukula’s inspiration comes from the past, but is also contaminated by the present, her characters wear the pieces of two contemporary designers known for their strength, self-confidence and irreverence: Creepyyeha for the clothes and Natacha Marro for the shoes.
