Purrfect Pineapples è un marchio di abbigliamento intimo e corsetteria nato nel 2004 dalla fashion designer Erika Shuhendler, la mente e la mano creativa del brand.
La prima cosa che contraddistingue Purrfect Pineapples è che si tratta di un’azienda cruelty-free, non vengono usati prodotti derivati dagli animali come pelle, lana, seta e pellicce e la produzione avviene interamente in Canada, a Toronto, quindi non viene delegata ad aziende estere e a basso costo che sfruttano la manodopera.

Purrfect Pineapples is a brand of underwear and corsetry founded in 2004 by the fashion designer Erika Shuhendler, the creative mind and the hand of the brand.
The first thing that distinguishes Purrfect Pineapples is that it is a cruelty-free company, which doesn’t use animal products such as leather, wool, silk or fur and production is entirely in Toronto, Canada, and sweatshop free.

Erika Shuhendler crede fortemente in questa sua scelta, infatti è vegana da più di 5 anni e vegetariana da più di dieci:

“Ho sempre pensato che il veganismo fosse il ‘passo successivo’ all’essere diventata vegetariana. È successo gradualmente - per prima cosa ho eliminato dalla mia dieta il latte, poi le uova, in seguito il formaggio e il gelato è stato l’ultimo della lista.
Alla fine impari a vivere senza prodotti animali nella dieta, specialmente grazie a tutti i nuovi prodotti vegani disponibili in commercio. Daiya Cheese e Temptation Ice cream sono tutto quello di cui ho bisogno (haha!). Essere vegana ha sicuramente cambiato la mia vita in meglio.”

Erika Shuhendler strongly believes in her choice, in fact she has been vegan for more than 5 years and meat-free for more than 10 years:

“I always thought of veganism as “the next step” after becoming vegetarian. It just happened gradually - first I cut out milk, then eggs, then cheese, ice cream was last on the list.
Eventually you just learn to live without animal products in your diet, especially with all the new amazing vegan products available on the market right now. Daiya Cheese and Temptation Ice cream are all I need (haha!). Being vegan has definitely changed my life for the better.”

La seconda cosa, interessante quanto la prima, riguarda i prodotti, così carini e kawaii, realizzati con tessuti dai pattern deliziosi come torte, ciambelle, cupcake e gelati, ma anche dai pattern teneri come cigni, cervi, volpi e fiori, tutti disegnati e stampati in serigrafia dalla stessa Erika Shuhendler. I tessuti si sposano perfettamente con i tagli ricchi e vezzosi dei suoi prodotti, curati sotto ogni aspetto, anche quello della taglia, si possono infatti fare ordini personalizzati sia per le taglie più minute che per quelle più abbondanti.

The second thing, as interesting as the first, concerns the products, so cute and kawaii, made with delicious fabrics, their patterns are cakes, donuts, cupcakes and ice cream, but they also are cute with nice swans, deer, foxes and flowers, all designed and silkscreened by Erika Shuhendler herself. The fabrics match perfectly with the rich and charming models, prepared with attention to the smallest detail, including to the size, tailored to customer requirements even for very small or very large sizes.

Infatti oltre a rimanere affascinate dai capi, non si può non notare le bellissime modelle, mai “anoressiche” e di una bellezza alternativa, mai stereotipata, scelte sempre da Erika che visiona anche le fotografie che le vengono inviate via email.

In fact, in addition to the amazing design, we cannot not but notice the beautiful models, never “anorexics” but with an alternative beauty, never stock, always chosen by Erika who selects even the photographs that are sent via email.

Il nome del brand Purrfect Pineapples si rifà alla seduzione, ma anche all’ironia: infatti la parola Purrfect è un gioco di parole tra “Perfect” (Perfetto) e “Purr” il verso dei gatti, mentre “Pineapples” significa “Ananas” e gioca con l’assonanza con la parola “Pin-up”, che sdrammatizza l’immagine idealizzata e quasi finta delle pin-up.

The Purrfect Pineapples brand name refers to seduction, but it’s also ironic: in fact the word Purrfect is a play on words between “Perfect” and the typical “Purr” of the cats, while “Pineapples” has an assonance with the word “Pin-up”, that plays down the idealized and almost fake image of the pin-up.
