Takarabune, the Treasure Ship and the 7 Lucky Gods: Junko Mizuno at Nucleus Gallery

Takarabune è la mostra di Junko Mizuno che esplora la mitologia nipponica presentando le Sette Divinità della Fortuna (rappresentate tutte in veste femminile nonostante tradizionalmente solo Benzaiten sia una donna), Amaterasu e Izanami.

Takarabune is the exhibition by Junko Mizuno housed at Nucleus Gallery in California that explores the Japanese mythology, presenting the Seven Lucky Gods (all represented as female despite traditionally only Benzaiten is a woman), Amaterasu and Izanami.

Yuki Onna è uno spirito del folclore giapponese, descritta come una bellissima e alta donna dai lunghi capelli neri, le labbra rosse e dalla pelle estremamente pallida, che trae soddisfazione nel togliere la vita ai viandanti.

Japanese Drops: Kimono Dressing

Secondo la tradizione, l’arte della vestizione del kimono veniva tramandata da madre a figlia. Oggi ci sono scuole che insegnano come indossarlo. E anche il Kawaii Team cercherà di tramandarlo a sua volta.

Japanese Drops: Kimono

Kimono significa letteralmente “cosa che si indossa” da “ki” “indossare” e “mono” “cosa”. In passato per kimono si intendeva qualsiasi abito, oggi si chiama kimono solo il capo tradizionale in contrapposizione all’abito occidentale, lo yōfuku.

Kimono literally means “thing to wear” from “ki” which means “wear” and “mono” “thing”. In the past kimono were any article of clothing, then today kimono is the traditional item, as opposed to Western dress, the yōfuku.
