‘Tendrils’ is the title of Kelly Vivanco’s solo show, US artist whom we have already presented in this post, open from March 12 to April 2 at the Distinction Gallery in California.

In questa mostra Kelly Vivanco presenta alcuni suoi nuovi lavori e le tavole che illustrano la sua interpretazione della favola di “Mignolina”, il classico di Hans Christian Andersen, una storia a tratti amara che l’artista delinea con la delicatezza che contraddistingue il suo stile e un pizzico di nostalgia.

In this exhibition Kelly Vivanco displays some of her new works, and illustrations of her interpretation of ‘Thumbelina’ fairytale, the Hans Christian Andersen’s classic, a bitter story that the artist outlines with the delicacy of her style and a bit of nostalgia.

Kelly Vivanco è affascinata dalla letteratura per l’infanzia e dal potere narrativo delle opere: un’illustrazione non deve considerarsi “conclusa” e fine a stessa, ma deve essere il nodo di una storia, un punto di connessione che scateni la fantasia dell’osservatore.

Kelly Vivanco is fascinated by children’s literature and the narrative power of the works: an illustration should not be considered just “ended”, but it must be the crux of a story, a connection point that triggers the imagination of the observer.
