“The Mad Hatter” è il titolo della mostra dell’artista francese Marc le Rest, ospitata alla Modern Eden Gallery di San Francisco dal 16 maggio al 6 giugno, dove i protagonisti assoluti sono stravaganti cappelli indossati con regalità da diversi tipi animali.
‘The Mad Hatter’ is the title of the exhibition of the French artist Marc the Rest, housed at the Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco from May the 16th to June the 6th, where the protagonists are the extravagant hats worn by royalty by different animals.

I quadri ricordano i ritratti di dame di corte della pittura francese rococò con una grande cura del dettaglio, la fauna viene vestita con sfarzosi accessori e tessuti Haute Couture che denunciano in modo molto evidente il passato dell’artista, textile designer di Hermès, Armani, J.P. Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel ed Etro in Europa.
The paintings remind of the portraits of court ladies of the French Rococo art, there is a great attention to detail, fauna is dressed in sumptuous Haute Couture accessories and fabrics, that it’s pretty obvious the former background of the artist, as textile designer for Hermès, Armani, J.P. Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel and Etro in Europe.

La mostra si divide in tre macro-serie: “Noir and Blanc” dove vediamo gli animali che indossano intricati cappelli arricciati presentati in un’atmosfera cupa e misteriosa dove il bianco e nero sono intervallati da poche pennellate bronzo e rosa, “Fleurs” dai colori molto più caldi e avvolgenti dove i vistosi cappelli di paglia sono decorati da fiori colorati, infine la serie “Wearing” dove le prede indossano con regalità copricapi ricavati dalle pelli dei proprio predatori.
The exhibition is divided into three main series: ‘Noir and Blanc’ where the animals wear intricate hats presented in a dark and mysterious atmosphere where black and white are lived up by few strokes of bronze and rose, ‘Fleurs’ with much more warm and cozy colors where the showy straw hats are decorated with flowers, finally ‘Wearing’ series where preys regally wearing hats made from the skins of their predators.
