The Magic of a Flower Blossomed from a TAG

Le ispirazioni nascono nei modi più bizzarri e, quella che vi stiamo per raccontare, è la storia di un profumo nato da un artistico “atto vandalico”.

Inspirations comes in the strangest ways, and we’re about to tell the story of a perfume created from an artistic “vandalism”.

Amo le foto ambientate di notte. Diversi anni fa ho fatto una mostra lungo la cancellata dei giardini Lussemburgo con Véronique Durruty: 100 foto scattate di notte, in tutto il mondo, ed esposte nei giardini. Alcune delle foto erano state taggate in quello che era un vero atto di vandalismo tranne due dove i tag hanno aggiunto qualcosa alla foto, ed è così che è nata l’idea.
Ho tenuto quelle due foto perché mi piacciono.
Sulla prima foto, si poteva vedere il cofano di una macchina rossa immortalato in una luce bellissima. “L’artista” aveva graffiato l’auto con il suo tag, è stato un modo di sabotare la foto ma è stato anche divertente vedere un graffio reale su un quadro del genere.
La seconda foto era uno scatto di una barca in Indonesia, persa tra una nebbia magnifica. Queste barche sono state dipinte con motivi, molti colori e dei volti.

Così in un’intervista Patrick Guedj, direttore creativo di Kenzo Parfums, racconta come nacque l’ispirazione che lo portò a creare il nuovo profumo Flower TAG.

I love the night-time theme for photos. Several years ago, I did an exhibition along the railings of the Luxemburg gardens with Véronique Durruty: 100 photos shot at night, everywhere in the world, and displayed around the gardens. Some of the pictures were tagged, and it was more like vandalism for most except two where the tags added something to the photo, and that’s how the idea was born.
I kept those two photos because I like them.
On the first photo, you could see the hood of a red car shot in a beautiful light. “The artist” had scratched the car with his tag, it was a way to sabotage the photo but it was also amusing to have a real scratch on such a picture.
The second picture was a shot of a boat in Indonesia, lost in a superb mist. These boats are painted with motifs, lots of colours and faces.

In an interview Patrick Guedj, the creative director of Kenzo Parfums, talks about the inspiration that led him to create the new Flower TAG fragrance.

Il celebre papavero del romantico bouquet Flower by Kenzo cresce ora di notte sui muri della città e diventa Flower TAG.
Tag è un termine inglese che indica le firme dei graffiti: per qualcuno “taggare” i muri è un atto vandalico, ma per altri è una forma di street art e proprio a quest’arte Kenzo dedica un’eau de toilette floreale, fruttata e fresca.

The famous poppy of the romantic bouquet Flower by Kenzo grows in the night on the town walls and it becomes Flower TAG.
Tag is a form of graffiti signature: for someone “tagging” the walls is an act of vandalism, but for others it is a form of street art and Kenzo dedicates a floral, fruity and fresh eau de toilette to this art.

Il flacone si colora di rosso intenso, come le luci della città notturna.
Avvicinando i packaging dei profumi, le tag si uniscono e formano un muro ricoperto di scritte.

The bottle is bright red, like the city lights at night.
Moving closer the packagings, the tags come together and make a wall covered with graffiti.

Come modella per la campagna pubblicitaria è stata scelta la polacca Edyta Zajac. Cammina di notte sul tetto di un palazzo ricoperto di papaveri e pone sul muro la sua tag.

The model of the commercial is the Polish Edyta Zajac. She walks at night on the roof of a building covered with poppies and draws her tag on the wall.

Flower TAG invita tutte le giovani donne a dichiarare i propri sentimenti.
