“Lo Schiaccianoci e i Quattro Regni” è la rivisitazione moderna in chiave Disneyana dell’immortale racconto di Natale “Schiaccianoci e il re dei topi” di E. T. A. Hoffmann e del balletto “Lo schiaccianoci” di Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij.
I registi sono Lasse Hallström e Joe Johnston e hanno diretto un cast spettacolare con Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman e arricchito dalla performance di Misty Copeland, ballerina principale dell’American Ballet Theatre.
Il film è uscito nelle sale italiane il 31 ottobre e negli Stati Uniti il 2 novembre.

“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is the modern reinterpretation of the classic Christmas tale “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by E. T. A. Hoffmann and of the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij.
The directors are Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston and the cast is spectacular with Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and enriched by the performance of Misty Copeland, principal dancer of the American Ballet Theater.
The film was released in Italian theaters on October 31st and in the United States on November 2nd.

Trama / Plot

Il giorno della vigilia di Natale il signor Stahlbaum, come da tradizione, dà ai suoi tre figli i regali di Natale, anche se Clara non è molto in vena di festeggiare visto la recente scomparsa della madre.
Il suo regalo è un misterioso uovo appartenuto proprio a sua madre, che non riesce ad aprire perché deve cercarne la chiave.
La famiglia si reca alla grande festa del padrino di Clara, il signor Drosselmeyer, che offre alla bambina la strada per trovare la chiave misteriosa che la condurrà in un regno fantastico.
Qui scopre che la Madre è la regina del regno e lei la principessa e che la chiave non serve solo ad aprire il suo uovo, ma anche ad azionare una misteriosa macchina, che può essere la soluzione per porre fine alla guerra in corso tra Brivido del Regno dei Fiocchi di Neve, Biancospino del Regno dei Fiori, la Fata Confetto del Regno dei Dolci contro Madre Cicogna del Regno dei Divertimenti.
Ma nulla è come sembra!

On Christmas Eve, Mr. Stahlbaum gives his three children Christmas presents, even though Clara is not very much in the mood to celebrate since her mother just passed away.
Her gift is a mysterious egg that belonged to her mother, but she can not open it because she has to look for the key.
The family goes to the great party of Clara’s godfather, Mr. Drosselmeyer, who offers the girl the way to find the mysterious key that will lead her into a fantastic kingdom.
Here she discovers that her Mother is the queen of the kingdom and she is the princess and that the key can not only open her egg, but also turn on a mysterious machine, which can be the solution to end the war between Shiver of the Land of Snowflakes, Hawthorne of the Land of Flowers, The Sugar Plum Fairy of the Land of Sweets against Mother Ginger of the Land of Amusements.
But nothing is as it seems!

Commento / Review

Difficile non entrare nel mood natalizio guardando “Lo Schiaccianoci e i Quattro Regni”, i costumi e le scenografie sono davvero spettacolari e fanno vivere anche agli spettatori il fantastico sogno di Clara.
Il film è un ponte tra il racconto di Hoffman e il balletto di Čajkovskij, tra atmosfere gioiose e momenti cupi, che lasciano lo spettatore sorpreso e talvolta spiazzato.
Un film di Natale adatto a tutti, specialmente alle appassionate di makeup!

It’s very easy to be in the Christmas mood by watching “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”, costumes and sets are truly spectacular and bring Clara’s fantastic dream to life.
The film is a bridge between Hoffman’s story and Tchaikovsky’s ballet, between joyous atmospheres and dark moments, which make the spectator surprised and sometimes displaced.
A Christmas movie for everyone, especially for makeup lovers!
